Back in the Seventies

Written by Susanne Novak on November 6, 2009 – 10:50 am -

We are back in the “Seventies”.

I am not talking about the outside temperature nor the good old days of disco. I am talking about Columbus HUD homes listings – 76 are available this week, down from 92 a week ago.

The average list price also dropped to the low seventies – $71,663 to be exact. This means that many of the higher priced HUD homes sold over the past week. Only 15 Columbus HUD houses are currently priced above $100K.

This promises to be a very nice weekend. So, where are the best deals?

There are 4 new HUD listings in Blacklick, 2 in Hilliard and 1 each in Gahanna and Pickerington. I will preview 4 or 5 of these homes for you.

If you want to go really cheap – say $3,000 – you can buy a 3 bedroom at 146 N Burgess on the Hilltop. That’s 40% below its appraised value of $5,000.

Triple that price and you get a 130 year old brick home on 1155 E. Rich Street listed for $9,000.
