Deadlines For HUD Homes And Tax Credits

We are in the middle of April, just past tax day, and 3 important deadlines are approaching for Columbus HUD homes buyers. Here they are in the order of importance:

  1. The deadline for the home buyer tax credits is April 30, 2010. You must have a binding contract by that date. If you bid on HUD homes, the contract must be ratified by HUD. This time there won’t be a last minute effort by Congress to extend it.
  2. You should submit your offers on HUD houses by this Wednesday (April 21, 2010) to have your HUD contract ratified by Friday, April 30, 2010. This is my best guess and no guarantee! Based on my experience it will take more than 5 business days to get the contract ratified by HUD.
  3. Owner occupants need to submit their offer for the Upper Arlington HUD house and the (near) Reynoldsburg duplex today. Both properties were featured last week and are unique opportunities for home buyers.
